At Encouraging Hands Music School, we believe that learning increases exponentially in the synergy of a class environment.

 

Classes & Workshops

At the Encouraging Hands Music School our belief is that learning increases exponentially when people are brought together in a creative environment. The camaraderie that occurs in class, questions raised and answered, and synergy that happens in a highly charged learning atmosphere increases the potential to learn at a faster rate.

The goal of every class is to address a specific area of focus and bring each participant to the next level, in both their understanding and ability to play an instrument.

Each class is devoted to teaching people to work together in ensemble, and develop confidence in their ability to make a contribution to any musical setting.

The Blues of B.B. King
– A Workshop for Guitarists

Date: Saturday, July 12 – 12–5 pm

Cost: $100 – includes additional one-hour lesson with Mark

Format: One-day workshop

Instructor: Mark Heinemann

 

 

One of the biggest influences on many blues artists and fans has been the work of B.B. King.

Join us for for this one-day workshop for all blues-loving guitarists. One great Saturday spent with other guitarists,

Bach: The Man and His Music

An 8-Week Course to Experience the Music of of Bach through Music, Nature, Movement, Poetry and Visual Arts

Cost: $250

Format: Tuesday evenings, 6:30–8:30, for eight weeks.

For: Musicians and non-musicians alike – Anyone interested in experiencing music with your thoughts, feelings and body integrated as one whole.

Instructors: Anthony Lee, Stephanie Zaepfel and Mark Heinemann

Who Should Take This Class?

  • People with no musical experience who love music
  • People with an interest in music as a hobby, who want to increase their musical ability and understanding.

Where The Wild Things Roar!

A 6-Week Vocal Performance Class

Dates: January 27 – Mar 3, 2003

Cost: $200

Format: Monday evenings, 6:30–8:30, for six weeks.

For: Beginning to Intermediate Singer

Instructors: Rev. Jeremy McLeod and Mark Heinemann

Who Should Take This Class?

  • People who have always wanted to sing but lack confidence in their voice
  • Those with some vocal background, who want more performance experience
  • Experienced singers who want to refine their vocal technique

    — Improvisation

    Cost: $200

    Format: 3-Day Weekend Workshop: Thursday 6-9, Friday 6-9, Saturday all day

    For: Players of any instrument

    Inside all of us, there lies the reason why we do things, and our deepest and most cherished beliefs. When we play music our feelings can pour forth from that place. Learn how to access and express musically from that core.

    We'll learn how to use improvisation as a basis for self-expression, and how that can enhance all areas of your life.

    Weekend Workshop

    Dates: Dec. 5-7, 2002

    Cost: $200

    Format: 3-Day Weekend Workshop: Thursday 6-9pm; Friday 9pm-midnight (cuz that's when the Blues was Born, late at night); Saturday all day.

    For: Intermediate players of guitar, mandolin, bass, keyboard, drums

     

    Gain experience playing Classic Blues in a supportive Jam Session environment, while playing with local blues band

    Format: 5-Week Ensemble Class, 2 Hour Classes

    For: Intermediate players of banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, or bass

     

    Do you love traditional Irish & bluegrass music?

    Join the "Nine Points of Roguery" Acoustic Ensemble

    . . . and learn to play traditional music from Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, as well as traditional American Bluegrass, while having fun playing with an ensemble!

    Format: Each workshop one Saturday, 12–6pm

    For: Songwriters and Players of any instrument

    SONGWRITING: In this class, we will learn to express our experiences creatively and touch other people.

    CELTIC: learn to play traditional music from Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

    BLUEGRASS: Learn traditional American Bluegrass techniques, while having fun playing with an ensemble!

    For: Any songwriter or musician looking for ways to spark their creative process

    For: Teenagers with something to say!

    Each age has its own unique perspective. Time and again it's up to the youngest generation to see clear to the bone and expose essential truths which set the world on its ears.
